The Story Behind the Book
The idea for Physicians' Untold Stories began when a colleague shared an experience he had never told anyone — a moment in the ICU that defied every medical explanation. Dr. Kolbaba discovered that nearly every physician he spoke to had a similar story, locked away, unshared.
Over three years, he collected these stories — dreams that foretold future events, apparitions at bedsides, patients who recovered against impossible odds — and gave physicians a safe space to finally share what they had witnessed.
The result is a book that Kirkus Reviews calls “a feel-good book of hope and wonder” and that readers describe as “a reminder that there are forces beyond what medicine can measure.”

Beyond Medicine
Dr. Kolbaba's friends accuse him of specializing in “big.” An only child, he now has a family of seven children. His other passions include his Newfoundland puppy (already 130 pounds), flying kites (“only the big ones” — at sixteen square meters, his kiteboarding kite once pulled him and his neighbor off the ground), and growing Atlantic Giant pumpkins. He is the proud winner of the Sycamore, Illinois pumpkin-growing contest two years running.
Dr. Kolbaba's family supports an orphanage in Romania through REMM (Romanian Evangelical Medical Mission), where they adopted two of their children. His goal is to provide enough support to help many more orphans and street children.
